Three days before the premiere of the Challenge Copenhagen they have all come together to answer the questions of national and international journalists. Martin Jensen(DEN), Chris McDonald (AUS), Tim Berkel (AUS), Luke Dragstra (CAN), Ain-Alar Juhanson (EST), Aleksander S. Markovic (DEN) as well as Rebekah Keat (AUS), Belinda Granger (AUS), Lisbeth Kristensen (DEN) and Hillary Biscay (USA) have attended today’s press conference, so the exciting stage of the Challenge event in the Danish capital has started.
More than 1,600 athletes from 37 nations are going to take part in the race this Sunday. The preparations for the first Challenge long-distance event in Denmark have been going on for two years, and this weekend the moment will finally come: “We are already in our starting blocks and can hardly wait for the race to be on”, says Thomas Veje Olson, organizer of the Challenge Copenhagen.

The athletes are thrilled about the race course through the city: “It’s a wonderful course right through the city center of Copenhagen”, says Belinda Granger. Her compatriot Rebekah Keat is also looking forward to the upcoming event: “I have recovered quite well from the Challenge Roth. I want to win this race!”. For Lisbeth Kristensen from Denmark the competition is going to be a home match. Her family and friends have come to Copenhagen to cheer her on: “I want to do my own race and I won’t look at the others”, says Kristensen.
Tim Berkel from Australia is not the only one who has taken on the male competitors. Says Ain-Alar Juhanson from Estland: “I can win this race and I’m keen on it”. For young Danish athlete Martin Jensen it will be his first long-distance race on Sunday, and he is also eager to fight for the victory.
The winner of the 2010 Challenge Roth, Rasmus Henning, will also be among the starters in Copenhagen. He will do the swim for a relay team, and will support the organizing team as an advisor and expert during the critical phase of the event. “We are proud to see that so many athletes are going to take part in the premiere of the Challenge Copenhagen. The field of starters is excellent, so it will surely be an exciting race”, says Felix Walchshöfer, Challenge Family CEO.
